Lots has been going on at the harbour in Mountshannon these days. Over the past month Clare County Council has been putting in the foundations for the new “White-tailed Sea Eagle Viewing and Information Point’. On Thursday the 26th of June the new temporary building arrived and over the past week finishing touches have been added. Its a wonderful addition to our community.

Local artist, Sam Gaine has painted a life-size White-tailed Sea Eagle for Mountshannon Harbour. Comparing yourself next to this eagle you really get the true sense of their size and magnificence!

In May 2012 Norwegian ornithologists, including members of the collection team, at Mountshannon, Co. Clare, to witness the first breeding attempt by White-tailed Sea Eagles released in Ireland. On July 4th we welcome Councillor John Crowe, Moyor of Clare and Roald Naess, Ambassador of Norway to offically open the “Viewing and Information Point”
